Price: $36 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 3 x 2 g/0.07 oz & 6 x 0.9g/0.03 oz The Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Eye Shadow Collection is a nine shadow palette with colors inspired by nothing but a PB&J sandwich. Like all of the Too Faced palettes that come in the little tin, this palette has three large shadows accompanied by six smaller shades. Like many Too Faced products, this palette has a delicious chocolate scent, which I absolutely love. Honestly, I was sold on this palette before I even saw it--just by the name. I eat PB&J sandwiches all the time and it is one of my favorite foods, so I had to get this palette. My only complaint with the palette is that most of the shades fall in the mid tone region, there aren’t any dark shades for adding further definition to the eyes. All four of the brown shadows (Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter Cup, Peanut Brittle, and Nuts About U) all look pretty similar, as they are all very warm, mid-tone browns. Despite the shade Jelly, the Peanut Butter & Jelly palette is quite neutral, so it works easily on a day to day basis. The shadow formulations are pretty consistent, but Jelly is a bit less pigmented than the rest, as you can probably tell in my swatches. All in all, I don’t think that this palette is quite a staple item, but if you are more of a makeup collector, or just love PB&J sandwiches (like I do) than I would definitely pick this palette up! Price: $40 * Buy At: Sephora * Size: 6 x 0.05 oz The Buxom Customizable Eyeshadow Bar Palette is a custom eyeshadow palette that can fit 6 eye shadow pans. Each individual shadow is $12, but when you buy six shadows and the palette it is only $40. The six shadows I purchased are Designer or Die, No Faux, Pure Platinum, It Crowd, Filthy Rich and Gimme Gorgeous. The palette is small and compact and has the Buxom logo in gold on the lid. To put the single shadows in the palette, you slide the tray out from the side, put the shadows in, and slide the tray back in. It comes with the tiniest little brush ever, which is not very useful due to the size. I did not create my palette to be cohesive, but I really liked each individual color. With the color combo I chose, this would not be a palette I would travel with, but the palette itself is very travel friendly. The formulation of these shadows is amazing, which of course is what interested me in this palette. Pure Platinum is the most intense metallic silver I have ever used, I barely had to apply any to get the intensity in the swatch photos. All three matte shades--Designer or Die, Gimme Gorgeous and Filthy Rich--apply beautifully and are so easy to blend out. It Crowd and No Faux have equally great formulation and pigmentation, and are fun to add to a neutral look to add some color. I will definitely be getting my hands on another palette soon! XOX ♥
Price: $10 * Buy At: Kmart * Size: 0.21 oz / 6 g The Milani Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow Collection in Earthy Elements is a six shadow palette consisting of warm neutrals. The palette is plastic and cheap feeling, but that is expected with the drugstore price tag. I feel that the packaging is kind of bulky for just six shadows, but again, I am not too bothered. Unfortunately, the first shadow is pretty much a dud, but the rest of the shades are really nice! The two matte shades are really the stars of the palette; they are smooth, pigmented, and blend super easily. While I like the color selection, I don’t think you can create a ton of different eye looks using only this palette, since there isn’t any pale or deep shades. Two of the shadows are lighter, but not to the point that they could be a highlight, at least on my skintone. I feel that the palette could also use a dark matte brown or black, which is a staple shade for me on an everyday basis. All nitpicking aside, I think this palette is really nice, even if you just buy it for the two matte crease shades! I have never been a fan of eyeshadows from the drugstore, but I would definitely recommend this palette to anyone on a budget looking for shadows that are easy to work with. XOX ♥
Price: $65 * Buy At: Sephora * Size: 6 x 0.12 oz & 1 x 0.29 oz The Nars NARSissist Cheek Studio Palette consists of seven cheek products: 4 blushes, the Paloma contour/highlight duo and a full sized Laguna bronzer. The NARSissist Cheek Studio Palette comes in a thick rectangular package with a mirrored lid. Although the palette doesn’t have Nars’s typical rubberized packaging, it is still quite prone to getting dirty thanks to the mirror. The formulation of the cheek products is great, there is not a single dud within the palette, which you would hope would be the case with a $65 palette. The Paloma contour powder is on the pink side, so while it works well on my cool toned skin, it may look more like a blush on other skin tones. The Paloma highlight does not do too much to highlight my fair skin, but I can still use it as a setting powder on certain areas of my face. My favorite thing about Nars blushes is how easy they are to blend, and these blushes do not disappoint. They make applying cheek color super fool proof! The only thing that I think would have made this palette better would be a shimmery highlight instead of a matte one, but I have plenty of shimmery highlights in my collection, so I guess it is a welcomed change. All in all, I really like this palette and although it is expensive, I find it to be more worth it than Nars’s other pricy palettes and other high end cheek sets. XOX ♥
Price: $7.99 * Buy At: Walgreens * Size: 0.28 oz / 8.1 g The Wet n Wild Studio Eyeshadow Palette in Coming in Latte is a ten pan shadow palette filled with neutrals. I don’t typically go for shadow palettes from the drugstore, but I tend to like Wet N Wild shadows, so I gave this palette a chance. And I sure am glad that I did! This palette has some of the best matte shadows I have ever seen from the drugstore, and are actually quite comparable to higher end shadows. The packaging feels cheap, which is to be expected from such an affordable product. It may just be mine, but it’s kind of difficult to get opened for some reason. The palette does not have a mirror, but that does not bother me at all. As you can probably tell from the swatches, the shimmery shades aren’t super intense, but they can be built up, and the mattes in the palette really make up for it. All of the shadows have a smooth texture and apply very evenly to the eyes. I have experimented quite a bit with this palette and find it quite easy to use. The matte shadows blend out very well, and the colors have good color payoff on the eyes. The only one that doesn’t show up super well is the ivory shade, but that is solely due to how close in color it is to my skintone. Overall it is a very nice palette and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good eyeshadows (especially matte) at the drugstore. XOX ♥
Price: $7 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 14 g / 0.49 oz The Makeup Revolution Romantic Smoked Redemption Palette contains twelve shadows: six matte and six shimmer. The first six shadows are shimmery and the last six are matte, a nice balance of finishes, especially for a drugstore palette. The matte shades are varied enough in shade to create a variety of eye looks. Three of the shadows are lighter and more subtle, great for transition shades, and three are darker for adding depth to the crease, smoking out the lower lashline or to add a soft liner to the lids. The mattes aren’t intensely pigmented, but they are smoother and more blendable than lots of drugstore matte shadows. The shimmers are more intense, but they do not have a foil like quality to the finish. The shimmers correspond to the mattes pretty well, but they are slightly warmer in tone. Once again, three are light and three are dark, providing some nice variety for eye looks. I typically combine this palette with other shadows, but you could easily create looks with this palette alone. If more cool toned colors aren’t your thing, then this specific palette may not be for you, but I find it to be a nice option for anyone that is on a budget! XOX ♥
Price: $39.50 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 7.4 g The Becca Afterglow Palette is a five pan highlight and blush palette. The Becca Afterglow Palette comes in a reflective rose package that is compact and travel friendly. The palette has a mirror under the lid and the color names are on the back of the palette. The Afterglow Palette includes three Shimmering Skin Perfectors in Moonstone, Rose Gold and Topaz, and two Mineral Blushes in Wild Honey and Flowerchild. On darker skin tones, two or all of the Shimmering Skin Perfectors could work as a highlight, but on my light skintone, only Moonstone works to highlight my skin. So, while I cannot use the other two as highlights, they are still very pretty for layering over blushes to add a bit of a glow. All the powders have a smooth texture, although the blushes are not quite as soft as the Shimmering Skin Perfectors. XOX ♥
Price: $28 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 2.62 g The IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Must Haves Set comes with a seven shadow palette, a deluxe sized Hello Lashes Mascara & a sample of the Bye-Bye Under Eye Concealer. The palette comes in a cardboard package that stays closed magnetically. It has a small mirror, I'm not sure how functional it would be. Honestly, it feels kind of cheap, but it is what's on the inside that counts. The palette contains six neutral matte eyeshadows, and one “transforming” satin shadow. This shadow is designed to layer over mattes to give a different finish, but honestly it just lightens the color and maybe adds a tiny bit of a sheen, as you can see in my swatches. All of the shadows are consistent in formula, and are very similar to the shades in the full sized Naturally Pretty palette, although they aren’t as soft and powdery. The shadows are very easy to blend, which is great to see in a palette of matte shades. With three light shades and three medium shades, you can create a variety of eye looks just using this palette, although I would typically use this palette in combination with some shimmery shadows. Price: $11.99 * Buy At: Sleek's Website * Size: 12 x 1.1 g The Sleek iDivine Eye Shadow Palette in Calm Before the Storm contains twelve shadows, five of which are neutral and seven are various blues. The Sleek iDivine Palettes come in a thin, black package with a large mirror under the lid. Unfortunately, the shadow names are not printed on the palette, and are only on the clear insert. Calm Before The Storm is probably not a must have for most people since more than half of the shadows are blue. The shadows in this palette are pretty consistent for the most part. The only shade I would call a dud is Navy Shower, which was just not pigmented, even if I build it up a lot. The matte shadows--with the exception of Lagoon--feel a bit dry, but they do not apply patchy or uneven. My favorite shadow in Calm Before the Storm is Voyage, I think it's a really unique shade. Overall, the palette is pretty good, although I know the color scheme is not everyone's cup of tea. But, if you are a makeup collector, or really love blue shadows, Calm Before the Storm would be a nice addition to your collection. XOX ♥
Price: $45 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.84 oz The Too Faced Stardust by Vegas Nay set comes with a twelve shadow palette, a deluxe sized Better Than Sex Mascara, a deluxe sized Shadow Insurance primer and a loose glitter in the shade Nude Beam. I was not all that interested in this palette when I saw it online, but once I swatched the shadows in store I knew I had to have it. The palette is kind of big, but it is very thin so it still could be a travel friendly option, although it does not have a mirror. The color selection of the palette is very pretty and the warm tones are gorgeous for fall. Using just this palette alone you could create many neutral, dramatic or even colorful eye makeup looks. I tend to use the top six shades the most often, but I have enjoyed using the bottom six as well. All twelve shadows have really good pigmentation, and they have a smooth texture without being too soft or powdery. The loose glitter isn't super noticeable, on my skin tone it just adds a bit of shimmer, and not much color payoff. It could work nicely to layer over any of the shadows in the palette. For a twelve shadow palette, it's inexpensive (as far as high end goes) and you get three pretty nice bonus items. XOX ♥
