Price: $6 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.16 oz The Nyx Matte Lipstick in Minx is a medium tan brown with a matte finish. Minx is part of Nyx’s newest release from the Matte Lipstick line. The Nyx Matte Lipsticks come in a matte black tube that is clear in the center, showcasing the color inside. Nyx’s Matte Lipsticks are one of my favorite matte lip colors. They are very comfortable, and even moisturizing, on the lips, something that you don’t always find with mattes. It does not dry down to a completely dry, flat matte, but it definitely is without any kind of glossy finish. Minx is pretty opaque and applies smooth and even to the lips. Minx may not be a color for everyone, but I personally love brown lips, and prefer them as a statement lip instead of, say, a bright pink. XOX ♥

Price: $18 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 16 x 0.02 oz The Nyx Ultimate Shadow Palette in Brights consists solely of sixteen bright and colorful shadows with a variety of finishes. The Nyx Ultimate Palettes are fairly small and come with a clear lid, which I like. I have never been much of a fan of Nyx’s shadow palettes, but this one really impressed me, so I had to pick it up. I actually got to visit the Nyx store in the Mall of America, which was really cool. Some of the shadows need a bit more building up than others, but for the most part, these shadows have some pretty intense pigmentation (especially the bottom 2 rows)! On the eyes, these shadows blend out amazingly well, especially when you consider how colorful they are. Of course this kind of palette is not for everyone, but if you are really into makeup, a color selection like this can come in handy for particular looks, or if you just want to have some fun with a bright eye look. I love incorporating a shade or two with a fairly neutral look, and have actually found myself reaching for this palette more than I thought that I would. XOX ♥
Price: $10 * Buy At: Khols * Size: 0.03 fl oz The Eyelure Brow Ink in Blonde is a cool toned taupe felt tip brow color. The Eyelure Brow Ink is a double ended pen with a chiseled tip on one end and a thin pointed tip on the other. I think the idea of a felt tip brow color is pretty cool, it’s too bad that it hasn’t quite caught on as a trend. With this product, I found the fine tip to be more pigmented than the chiseled tip, but that may be because someone messed with it before I purchased it, as the box had no kind of seal. I think that this slightly sheer color looks great on the inner part of the brow to give the brows an ombre effect. When applied on the entire brow, it gives a more natural look, with the slight transparency allowing individual brow hairs to peek through the color. The product gives a bit of hold to the brows, but I still prefer to combine it with either a clear or tinted gel. XOX ♥
Price: $6 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 8 mL The Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Moscow is a deep navy. Moscow is a part of Nyx’s newest release from the Soft Matte Lip Cream line. Nyx’s Soft Matte Lip Creams come in a colored tube that corresponds to the product inside. The product has a sweet bakery scent similar to the Butter Glosses; I'm not a huge fan of the scent, but it doesn't bother me either. These are not matte liquid lipsticks, they are lip creams, so they do not dry and set completely down like a liquid lipstick. They still give the lips a nice matte finish, but without the drying feel. The texture of the product is more like a mousse than anything. Moscow isn't super opaque, allowing a bit of the lips to show through, which doesn't really bother me, but it could be a deal breaker for some. As far as statement lips go, I think navy looks super cool, especially on my cool toned skin. I know the shade is not for everyone, but at $6, it is worth a shot! XOX ♥
Price: $5.49 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.33 oz The Essence All About Vintage Eyeshadow Palette consists of half green-toned and half rosy-toned shadows. I have really loved Essence’s little palettes in the past, and now that certain Targets now carry the line, they have released some larger palettes just for Target. The packaging is pretty cheap, which is to be expected from such an affordable item. The texture of the shadows is very soft, so it can kick up some excess powder. The pigmentation across the board is great. My only gripe with this palette is that only one of the shades is really matte, so it really needs to be combined with other palettes or shadows. However, I love to use these Essence palettes on top of other shadows to add intensity and shimmer to the finished look, especially with the lighter colors. Even though I wouldn't typically use any of these shades in my crease, the shadows are very easy to blend out. Essence remains to be my favorite drugstore shadows, and I would definitely recommend checking these palettes out. XOX ♥
Price: $18 * Buy At: Nyx * Size: 16 x 0.02 oz The Nyx Ultimate Shadow Palette in Cool Neutrals consists of sixteen shadows with a variety of finishes. Nyx’s Ultimate Palettes come in a small, square package with a clear lid. I have never been much of a fan of Nyx’s shadow palettes, but this one really impressed me, so I had to pick it up. I actually got to visit the Nyx store in the Mall of America, which was really cool and had testers that you cannot get in Ulta. The palette consists of mostly neutral shades, but has some fun pops of color, like the electric purple shade. The top half is mainly lighter shadows, and the bottom half contains the dark shades. The shadows have very nice pigmentation and they have a smooth formula that doesn’t have too much powder kick up. These shadows blend out very easily, which is great to see in a drugstore eyeshadow palette. I am super impressed with this palette, and although it is pricy for a drugstore product, it is comparable to many super expensive palettes! It outdoes many more pricy items as well, since the shadows in the palette are smooth and soft. XOX ♥
Price: $5 * Buy At: Five Below * Size: 3 x 4.5 g The City Color Contour Effects Palette is a contouring trio, including a bronzer, contour powder and highlight. The packaging of the trio is cheap cardboard, but for such an inexpensive price, what else can you expect? The package is super thin, so I figured it would be perfect for travel, although it does not have a mirror. The pans of product are quite large, definitely larger than the pans in the Anastasia Contour Kit. As I expected from a City Color product (after loving their blushes), the three shades are very pigmented! The contour shade, being so pigmented, can end up looking a bit intense on my light skintone, so I just have to use a light hand. I really could see this contour shade working on darker skintones, which is great. The white highlight shade may look stark, but it has a more sheer pigmentation, to avoid a bright, chalky look on the skin. It definitely does not have shimmer, but it does add a bit of a sheen to the skin that gives a glowy appearance. The Bronzer shade is warm, but it doesn't look too warm or muddy on my skin, which is a common problem for me since I have a light, cool skin tone. Overall I really like this palette, and like the simplicity of a trio in the midst of all the large contour kits that everyone is releasing. I have been reaching for it a ton and will continue to do so. XOX ♥
Price: $6 each * Buy At: Makeup Geek Website * Size: 0.05 oz Makeup Geek has just released eighteen new shadows for spring, and I picked up four of them: Sand Dollar, Friend Zone, Rebel and Tiki Hut. Sand Dollar is described as a “porcelain pink grey” with a matte finish. While it would be a highlight shade on many skin tones, on me, it is a really pretty, light transition shade. I find this shade to work well with both warm and cool crease colors, and it can work for different purposes on every skintone Friend Zone is described as a “dusty purple brown” with a matte finish. Although I expected this shadow to be a bit more unique, to me it is just a pretty average dark taupe, which I have plenty of within my collection. This is not to discount the formula however, which is smooth, pigmented, and easy to blend. Rebel is described as a “deep dusty purple with a gold overlay” and a shimmery finish. This shade is really unique; I do not have any shadows in my collection that are similar. How it looks in the pan really translates onto the eyes. Rebel has a smooth, soft texture and needs a bit of building up to get the gold overlay to be intense, but once you do, it is absolutely gorgeous! Tiki Hut is described as a “medium tawny brown” with a matte finish. Tiki Hut is following along with the mustard-tone eyeshadow trend, and provides an affordable option to shadows like Bobbi Brown Camel. The texture is smooth and blendable, comparable to many more expensive shadows.
XOX ♥ Price: $6 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.16 oz The Nyx Matte Lipstick in Ultra Dare is a medium dark cool toned grey with a matte finish. Ultra Dare is part of Nyx’s newest release from the Matte Lipstick line. The Nyx Matte Lipsticks come in a matte black tube that is clear in the center, making it easy to see the color inside. I am quite a fan of grey-toned lipsticks, so I figured why not go bold with a straight up grey. I don’t think that it would flatter warm skin tones very much, but I like how it looks against my cool skin tone. The Nyx Matte Lipsticks are the most comfortable matte lipstick I have tried and Ultra Dare is no different. The product glides on to the lips and feels moisturizing on the lips. XOX ♥
