To begin this manicure, I applied a thin layer of a pale pink (Julie G Birthday Suit) to make sure none of my natural nails would be seen through the design. Once the base color had dried, I moved onto the marble look. I find this technique to be super easy, so I hope you give it a try! For the marble I used three colors, an orange (Barry M Jelly Hi Shine Papaya), a blue (Milani Power Periwinkle), and a white (Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On). For this technique, you want to wipe off most of the polish so that only a little remains on the brush. Then, paint fairly messy stripes on the nail. I first applied the blue, then the orange and then the white. To make the look more layered, I reapplied the blue and orange, making a total of five layers of color. Not too long after you apply the stripes, apply a thick layer of top coat (I used the Out The Door Top Coat) to blend the stripes together. This look didn't take too long to do and it's pretty fool proof! XOX ♥
Price: $2.99 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 11.8 mL The Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Babe Blue is a bright pastel periwinkle with subtle shimmer. Babe Blue applies quite smooth and evenly, especially for a pastel color. If you apply it a bit thick, you can get away with two coats, but I used three thinner coats in the photos. XOX ♥
Price: $14 * Buy At: Macy's * Size: 0.27 fl oz / 8 mL The Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish in Regents Place is a light cornflower blue with no shimmer or glitter. This polish has an average formula, but it dries to a thicker looking finish than most polishes, giving it a gel-like quality. The polish has a very smooth feel and a nice shine, without the need of a top coat. On my nails is two coats of Regents Place, with no top coat. XOX ♥
Price: $8.50 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.46 fl oz / 13.5 ml The Essie Nail Lacquer in Good As Gold is a metallic champagne gold. Good As Gold's formula was fairly thin, so I found it easiest to apply in thicker coats. Good As Gold dried pretty quickly, even though I used thick coats. It has great coverage and gives the prettiest metallic glow on the nails. Shown on my nails is two coats of Good As Gold. XOX ♥
Price: $10.50 * Buy At: Sephora * Size: 0.4 fl oz / 12 mL The Formula X for Sephora Nail Color in Continuum is a bright sky blue with a cream finish. The formula of Continuum is amazing, it applies so easily to the nails and isn't patchy or streaky at all. The polish has a nice shine and just makes the nails look good. You could probably get away with only one coat, but I used two coats of Continuum in the pictures. XOX ♥
I started off with a dark grey base, Essie Over The Edge. Using a dark color as a base will really make the design pop. For the flower I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Celeb City; I definitely suggest using some kind of reflective foil polish for the flower. For the flower design, I first created five large dots with the silver polish: one in the center, one on the top, one on the bottom and on both sides of the center dot. I used the small end of a dotting tool to create a triangle shape between each of the outer dots with the same silver polish. Once the silver dried, I used the grey color again to add detail to the flower. I added a dot in the center of each silver circle, as well as a smaller dot on each of the silver triangles. As always, I finished off with the Out The Door Top Coat. XOX ♥
Price: $3.99 * Buy At: Rite Aid * Size: 10 ml / 0.35 fl oz The Julie G Nail Color in Stiletto is a dark taupe with subtle shimmer. Colors like this aren't for everyone, but I have really been loving neutral polishes lately. Stiletto has a nice formula, not too thick or too thin. I also found it to dry fairly quickly. Shown on my nails is two coats of Stiletto. XOX ♥
To start off this manicure I used a metallic gold, Essie Good As Gold. For a contrasting effect, I suggest using a metallic polish as the base. I used a different design on each nail, but you could do all the nails the same or just have a design on one accent nail. For two of the nails I filled in half of the nail with black. On the middle nail I used a black nail art polish to draw vertical stripes. I painted an X on the pinky nail and then filled in the top and bottom with vertical stripes. I finished it off with the Out The Door top coat. XOX ♥
For Christmas and Christmas Eve I wore the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Red Carpet. Red Carpet has been my favorite red and favorite holiday color for a couple years now and I've worn it for Christmas the last couple years. The formula is great and I really like the subtle shimmer. Merry Christmas!
XOX ♥ Price: $9 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.5 fl oz Zoya Yuna described as a warm grey with copper and gold shimmer. It's a tough color to describe; the base is on the neutral side, but it definitely has a blue green tone as well. Yuna is a part of the Ignite collection for Fall 2014. Yuna has a thin and easy to apply formula and the glitter was easy to spread all over the nails. I used two coats of Yuna in the swatch photos. XOX ♥
