Price: $8 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.46 fl oz / 13.5 mL Essie Mint Candy Apple is a bright, pastel blue with a slight tint of green. This shade isn't really a mint color to me. As you can probably tell in the swatch, Mint Candy Apple is streaky. I suggest using thicker coats or a top coat (like Out The Door) to smooth out the streaks on your nails.
XOX ♥ Price: £3.99 * Buy At: Superdrug (UK) * Size: 0.35 fl oz / 10 mL The Barry M Confetti Nail Paint in Bubblegum is a clear base with light blue and white "confetti" pieces. Shown is 2 coats of Bubblegum over 1 coat of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Pacific Blue on all fingers but the ring finger, which is just 2 coats of Bubblegum. The confetti pieces applied really nicely and fairly dense and the clear base wasn't goopy or thick.
XOX ♥ Sephora by OPI's Is It Payday Yet? is described as an opaque key lime pie. I'd say it's a light spring green or chartreuse, but key lime pie is actually a pretty accurate description. Is It Payday Yet? is a pretty opaque color, but, I suggest 2 medium-thin coats to make it opaque, versus 1 thick coat. I found that this way also made this polish dry quickly. If you are interested in Is It Payday Yet? or any polishes from the Sephora by OPI line, I suggest getting them as soon as you can. Based on the fact that they were all on sale for $4.50 (regularly $9.50) and now are 3 for $10, I believe that Sephora will be discontinuing this line.
XOX ♥ Price: £3.99 * Buy At: Superdrug (UK) * Size: 0.35 fl oz / 10 mL The Barry M Textured Nail Paint in Ridley Road is a bright blue-mint with a textured finish. The application of Ridley Road was interesting since it has a textured finish. It felt like applying a polish that had a lot of little pieces of sugar in it. Even with this, Ridley Road applied amazing. It was nice and even and wasn't thick or gooey and also wasn't too thin. Ridley Road also dried incredibly quickly. It was almost fully dry with in a minute of appying. XOX ♥
Price: £3.99 * Buy At: Boots (UK) * Size: 0.35 fl oz / 10 mL The Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Papaya is a soft orange with a creme finish. (The Gelly line is made to look like Gel nail polishes, not have a jelly finish) Papaya is glossier than most nail polishes, but I don't really think it gave off a gel manicure look. However, I did have people asking me if I got a gel manicure when I was wearing this polish, so good job Barry M! XOX ♥
Price: $9.00 * Buy At: Beauty Brands * Size: 15 ml / 0.5 fl oz OPI My Vampire Is Buff is a neutral ivory cream from OPI's Spring 2013 Euro Centrale collection. The formula of My Vampire Is Buff was nice, It took 2 coats to create an opaque color and wasn't streaky. This was really nice because a lot of light shades like this tend to be on the sheer side. XOX ♥
Price: $9.50 * Buy At: Sephora * Size: 0.5 fl oz / 15 mL The formula of Seeing Pink Elephants just wasn't very good. This was a huge bummer because the color is gorgeous. It was streaky even after 3 coats on some nails and for some reason it scratched off really easily when it dried. On the bright side, this nail polish did dry really fast! If you are interested in the color of this nail polish, you can get it to work with a little more effort. I found that Seeing Pink Elephants lasted better and was less streaky when applied in thick coats versus thin or medium.
XOX ♥ I saw Monsters University a few weeks ago with my little cousins, and it brought back how much I love Monsters Inc! I think Monsters Inc has to be my favorite Disney movie, so I was inspired to do some nail art! Polishes UsedWhite - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On Blue - Essie In The Cab-ana Green - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Perfect Pear-ing Purple - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pinch of Punch Black - Wet N Wild Black Creme Black Striper - LA Colors Art Deco Black I also used a dotting tool, black sharpie, blue flocking powder & purple flocking powder for this nail art. How ToStart off by painting all your nails with a base coat of polish. I used white on my middle finger & thumb for the Monsters Inc logo nail as well as the Mike Wazowski nail. I painted my pinky finger green & my index finger purple because these 2 nails won't have a design. Lastly, I did a very thin coat of blue on my ring finger as a blue base for the flocking powder. For the fuzzy Sully nail, I pressed my ring finger into blue flocking powder when the base coat was wet. Then, I used a purple polish to make 3 dots on the blue and then pressed the nail into purple flocking powder to get the look of Sully's blue & purple fur. On the Monster's Inc logo nail, I carefully used my blue polish to paint the M. I created a thick vertical line on both sides of my nail and then dragged it towards the middle to make the M shape. Once it dried, I made the small white eye in the middle with a dotting tool & added a black pupil. Lastly is the Mike Wazowski nail. I started off with a semi circle covering a little more than half my nail. Once this dried, I added a large white semi circle at the bottom to be Mike's eye. Inside the eye I added a blue iris and black pupil with a dotting tool. I finished off by outlining the head and eye, as well as adding little horns to the top of his head.
I hope you liked this nail design! XOX ♥ |
