This year I went with a cute, festive nail design for Thanksgiving. I did get inspiration for my look on Pinterest. POLISHES USED: OPI My Vampire Is Buff (Ivory), Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Peachy Keen (Nude), Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Cinna-snap (Burgundy), LA Colors Nail Deco in Red (Red), LA Colors Nail Deco in Orange (Orange), Zoya Flynn (Tan) & Sephora by OPI Only Gold For Me (Chunky Gold Glitter Top Coat) To start off the look I painted my pinky nail & thumb nail with a nude color. I painted my ring finger ivory & my middle and index fingers burgundy. All I did for the burgundy nails was a coat of gold glitter. For the pinky & thumb nail, I started off with 2 thin stripes of a tan polish to create a V shape. I then added 2 thin stripes of a red polish under the tan to create another V. To finish, I used a small dotting tool and the same burgundy polish to add little dots above the tan V. Last was the turkey nail! I started this nail by painting 3 red & 2 orange feathers. Once this dried, I added the turkeys body with a tan polish and a large dotting tool. To finish the turkey, I added little eyes and a beak! I hope you enjoyed my nail design! Have a great Thanksgiving! XOX ♥
Price: $11 * Buy At: Sephora * Size: 0.33 fl oz The Nails Inc Beaded Polish in Covent Garden is a blue mint polish with various hexes and a gritty, textured finish. As you can probably assume by the texture of this polish, it is not the easiest to cover the sides of your nail. However, this polish was actually much easier to apply than I had anticipated. It didn't clump up and I didn't have to work hard to get Covent Garden to cover the nails. Covent Garden dried quite quickly as well, but I find textured polishes to dry faster than other formulas. This kind of polish formula isn't for everyone, but if you are looking for this kind of finish, I would suggest the Beaded Polish line from Nails Inc! Shown in swatches in two coats of Covent Garden. You may be thinking, it's November! Why palm tree nail art? I recently went on a vacation to the beach and thought that this nail art would be perfect! For this look, I started off painting my nails a base color. My ring finger was painted white (Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On) and all my other nails were painted mint (Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mint Sorbet). Once the white base dried, I moved onto the ombre. I painted a stripe of white, mint & a blueish green (Essie First Timer) onto a makeup sponge and sponged it onto my ring finger to blend the colors together. I let it dry for about a minute and followed up with a top coat to further blend the colors. Lastly was the palm tree, I freehanded the palm tree with a black striper (Sinful Colors Time Off). Once it dried, I added another layer of top coat (INM Out The Door) and my nail design was done! XOX ♥
Price: $2.49 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.4 fl oz / 11.8 ml The Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish in Glitter Gun has a clear base with gold hexes & confetti pieces, and white hexes. The clear base of Glitter Gun was not thick and I found the glitter was evenly distributed for the most part. I did not really need to work with the polish to get an even mix of little hexes, big hexes & confetti pieces. Shown in the swatches are 2 coats of Glitter Gun, all over a black base, except for the ring finger which is just Glitter Gun. XOX ♥
I found these polishes at Sally's Beauty Supply on sale, so I am not sure the current price for these polishes and I thought I would post swatches in case you come across these in a sale bin and are interested! The China Glaze Texture Nail Lacquer in Unrefined is a bright, cool toned pink with a gritty finish. The application was pretty easy, as the formula isn't too bumpy when it is wet. Unrefined dried pretty quickly and the gritty finish is nice and even on the nails. The China Glaze Texture Nail Lacquer in In The Rough is a bright yellow green with a gritty finish. The formula was consistent with Unrefined. I really like this color and I feel that this kind of bright chartreuse is hard to find, so if you like or don't mind the textured finish, then I would hunt down this color! XOX ♥
Price: $8 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 15 mL / 0.5 fl oz Giovanna is a shimmery kelly green polish from Zoya's Fall 2013 Satin collection. (I have reviewed 5 other polishes from Zoya's Fall collection earlier, this one came in my Ipsy bag) It has just the right amount of a blue tint while still keeping it a pretty true green. Just like all of my other Zoya polishes, Giovanna had a great formula that was super easy to work with. You can get it to be opaque in one thicker coat, or two thin coats. Swatches in the photos are shown with 2 coats. XOX ♥
Price: $5 * Buy At: Sephora * Size: 0.16 oz The Sephora Color Hit Nail Polish in Walk on the Wild Side is a gorgeous blue green foil. These colors always remind me of mermaids for some reason. Despite being a shimmery foil polish, the brush streaks barely show up and the polish dries to a very smooth finish. Application was a dream and the polish dried quite quickly. Two coats were used in the swatches. XOX ♥
Price: $17 * Buy At: Sephora * Size: 0.5 fl oz The Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Speckle is a pastel lilac creme with medium and small black hexes. This, and the other speckled effect nail polishes are from the Illamasqua I'mperfection collection. Speckle has a quite thin formula, which allows the black hexes to show through multiple layers. Despite the thinness, the pastel purple color built up nicely with the 3 coats in the swatches. The black hexes stay flat to the nail and don't make the finished nails feel bumpy. Speckle applied really nicely and also had a great wear. XOX ♥
