I have been decreasing my use of heat styling products over the past year, and this has been my go to hairstyle. It's simple, effortless, and can takes only a minute or two the night before! The way that you braid your hair can really change the finished result. Over the years I’ve tried many different placements and number of braids, and finally have a favorite style that creates foolproof beachy waves. Some people may be able to do this on wet hair and have their hair be dry by the morning, but I need to have my hair almost completely dry to ensure that it won’t be damp when I get up. I separate my hair into two sections; I like the bottom portion to have a bit less hair since the underside of the hair tends to not hold the wave as well as the top. I braid both sections fairly tight and just straight back. When I wake up and take out the braids, I am left with effortless beachy waves. I always use the Bed Head Deep Waver on the ends, so that they aren’t awkwardly straight, and so it’s not easy to tell that you simply braided your hair. I finish off the look with a bit of hair spray and argan oil, and I’m out the door!

I have tried so many ways to get heatless curls overnight and never ended up liking the result in the morning. But, I have finally found a way to do my hair at night to wake up with pretty somewhat beachy curls! On my hair, I create four buns, but if you have more hair, or want tighter curls, you could do six. I sleep on the side of my head, so I put the buns in the middle of my head, so they are comfortable to sleep on. If you like to sleep on your back, you could put the buns on the side of your head. I twist all the buns away from my face, but you could mix it up. All it took to keep the buns in throughout the night is a ponytail, but using clips or bobby pins could make it more secure. The hair looks funny when you take out the ponytails, but all you need to do it separate each twist into a couple pieces and shake out the hair. I typically need to touch up a couple pieces with a curling iron, but I really don’t need to do much to complete the look. As I frequently do, I used hairspray and argan oil and the hairstyle was complete.
XOX ♥ Price: $8.99 & $3.99 * Buy At: Target The brush doesn’t appear to have anything all that different about it by the looks of it. The comb, however, is made up of wavy teeth instead of the straight teeth of a classic comb. On my wet hair, I prefer using the Wet Comb, and the Wet Brush works easier on my damp hair. While any comb or brush is going to pull out pieces of hair--whether the hair is wet or dry--I do find that both the Wet Brush and comb pull out less pieces of hair. I especially like to use the Wet Brush while blow drying my hair, since it doesn’t tend to get stuck in my hair like a typical paddle brush does. I still prefer my Tangle Teezer on my dry hair, but this line is obviously designed to work with wet hair. If you have tangle prone hair, I would recommend testing these out, afterall they are very affordable! XOX ♥
Price: $19.98 * Buy At: Beauty Brands * Size: 5.1 fl oz / 150 ml The Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Beach Spray is an argan oil infused texturizing spray. The bottle says to spray the product on damp hair and allow it to dry naturally, or with a blow dryer with a diffuser. It also suggests using it at the roots to add volume, or on dry hair for detailing. One reason I love this product is due to the scent. It has a very summery and beachy smell that lingers in the hair. I also like that the product doesn't make the hair crunchy or hard, and I do not find it to dry out my hair too much. There are many ways that I like to use the spray; I use it on my damp hair after swimming, on dry hair after curling it, and on dry hair after putting in braids to add waves. This product is a decent amount more expensive than most texturizing sprays, and I typically don't spend much on hair products, but I really like this product and would recommend it. XOX ♥
Price: $4.99 * Buy At: Target * Size: 8.5 fl oz / 252 mL The Pantene Pro-V Stylers Heat Protection Spray claims to help shield strands from heat and to provide a glossy finish. They suggest to apply the spray liberally to damp hair and work the product through the hair for maximum protection. They also suggest to shake the bottle before using it. You would think that the style of sprayer that this bottle has would make it easier to cover all the hair, but I actually find it more difficult to get the product right where you want it. The product doesn't really have a scent, and it dries pretty quickly on the hair. The effectiveness of a heat protectant spray can be difficult to test, but my hair hasn't felt more damaged since I started using this product, so I would say that it works. XOX ♥
Price: $7.99 * Buy At: CVS * Size: 32 oz The Mane 'n Tail line of shampoo and conditioner has been out for quite a while, and lately has become much easier to find. I'm not sure if they still are, but I remember always seeing this brand claiming to help your hair grow. I have been growing out my hair for about two years now, so I am always looking for new things to help. Both the shampoo and conditioner do not have a scent, which I don't really like, but I'm sure that it's a positive for many people. They don't claim anything crazy on the bottles; the shampoo says it is for shiny and manageable hair, and the conditioner promises thicker, healthier looking hair. XOX ♥
Price: $4.59 * Buy At: Walgreens * Size: 6 fl oz Garnier claims that the Sleek & Shine Flat Iron Perfector Straightening Mist "helps protect your hair from the heat of your flat iron, while sealing in smoothness and shine for a lasting, sleek finish." My hair is naturally pretty smooth, so I can't notice a difference on my hair, but I have used this product on people with curly hair and the finished result was smooth and shiny. The bottle also claims that it will make your style last 48 hours, and even with my hair, which is naturally pretty straight, I still need to touch it up the next day. The spray has a nice scent that reminds me of a salon, which I really like. The product doesn't weigh the hair down or make it greasy and it dries very quickly. It's pretty difficult to really tell if a product is protecting your hair from heat, but my hair doesn't feel fried, so I would say that this spray works! XOX ♥
Price: $16 * Buy At: Beauty Brands * Size: 10 oz Rusk claims that the "W8less Plus Extra Strong Hold Shaping and Control Hairspray is a versatile design tool that provides texture, natural shine and long-lasting, touchable hold." I found this hair spray to work just about the same as my go to TRESemee Tres Two hair spray. The only difference I really notice is the scent and the Rusk hair spray is a bit of a finer mist than the TRESemee one. It has enough hold to keep waves or curls in my hair all day, but it doesn't make the hair feel crunchy or gross. I don't find the spray to give my hair any shine, which is one of its claims, but I don't really use hair spray to make my hair shiny anyway. The only negative thing I have to say about this hair spray, is that I only got about two-thirds of the way done with the product before the spray nozzle clogged. I've tried cleaning it out many times, but I cannot get the spray to mist any longer. XOX ♥
Price: $7.99 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 120 g The Batiste Floral & Flirty Blush Dry Shampoo comes in a light pink bottle with cherry blossom flowers. I don't find Floral & Flirty Blush to have much of a scent, and the product is white once sprayed onto the hair. For best results, you are supposed to shake the can, spray it about a foot away from the hair and massage it in. This product gets a ton of hype online, so naturally I was skeptical of it. However, I absolutely love this product! It absorbs oil from my hair much better than any other dry shampoo I've used, and while it doesn't make it look freshly washed, it makes a huge difference on second or third day hair. The only negative I have about this product is I feel like I run out of it quite quickly, and its on the more expensive side as far as drugstore dry shampoos go. I have already used up the blonde colored version and also really like that one. XOX ♥
Price: $2.99 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 18 ml / 5/8 fl oz The Hask Argan Oil Healing Shine Hair Treatment is a small brown, plastic bottle with a blue pop off lid. The oil isn't too thick or too thin and has a nice orange scent. The oil doesn't weigh my hair down or make it greasy (but I don't put it near my roots). I don't notice too much of a difference when I apply this oil, but it does make my hair have a silkier feel and for some reason it appears to help my hair stay straight all day. I've used this oil for a little while now, and I don't really notice any "healing" elements as the product's name implies. I like to apply a tiny bit of the oil throughout my hair after I've hair-sprayed and then I brush my hair to distribute the oil. XOX ♥
