The 4th of July is only days away, so some nail art is in order. For this manicure, I used the following nail polishes; Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On (white), dELiA*s Coral Me Pink (red), Sally Hansen Insta Dri In Prompt Blue (blue), Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Beach Ball (red, white and blue hexes), LA Colors Art Deco Red and the Out the Door Top Coat. I started off with the base colors as always. I painted the index and pinky nail red, the middle nail white and the ring fingernail blue. After the white base dried, I painted three red vertical stripes. On both of the red nails, I placed a white star at the bottom of the nail (using a top coat) and two blue hexes (from Sally Hansen Beach Ball) on either side of the star. I've really been liking glitter placement nail art lately, so I chose to do one line of red hexes and one line of white hexes on the blue nail. As always, I finished off all the nails with a top coat. XOX ♥
Price: $2.48 * Buy At: Walmart * Size: 0.4 fl oz / 11.8 ml As many of you have probably heard or seen, Sally Hansen has decided to change the color of the popular shade, Pacific Blue. They didn't change the name or even the number (420) of the shade, they just changed the color and the finish. I hate when brands do this, especially in this case because Pacific Blue was one of my all time favorite nail colors. The new Pacific Blue is a royal blue with shimmer, while the old one was a bright cornflower blue with a creme finish. Unfortunately, the formula of the new Pacific Blue isn't as good as the old one. The old one only needed one coat to be opaque, while the new one is quite thin and sheer needing 4 coats. Don't get me wrong, I still think that the new Pacific Blue is a pretty color, I just prefer the old version. The new version is on my ring & index finger and the old version is on my middle & pinky finger. XOX ♥
Price: $6 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.34 fl oz / 10 ml The Sally Hansen Color Foil Nail Makeup in Leaden Lilac is a muted blue purple with a metallic foil finish. Like a lot of foil polishes, Leaden Lilac leaves the appearance of brush strokes on the finished nails. Despite this, the formula of this polish was excellent! It's fairly thin and applies very smooth and even to the nails (as long as you don't have on a base coat, as the directions suggest). Leaden Lilac also dried extremely quickly and was almost opaque in one coat, but I used two in the photos just to be safe. XOX ♥
Today I decided to go with a quick and easy design that's perfect for summer. The orange is the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Papaya, the ivory is OPI My Vampire is Buff, the green is Pop Beauty Nail Glam in Loud Lime and the Yellow is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow. I used an acrylic paint for the white. Since I wanted the design to be simple, I just made the citrus circles with the nail polish brush. Once the circles dried I used a small nail art brush to draw the lines in the citrus. I also finished all the nails with a coat of top coat. XOX ♥
Today I have an interesting newer style of nail art to share with you, glitter placement! This design can be tedious and take some time, but I am happy with the results and it actually had a nice wear time on the nail. The blue is Essie In The Cab-ana and the base on the index finger is OPI My Vampire is Buff. All the hexes I used are from Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Carnival. To apply the individual pieces from the top coat, I pulled out the brush and used a cuticle stick (a toothpick or dotting tool could also work) to pick up the piece of glitter and stick it to the nail. I filled each row with the same color and used all the colors in Carnival except for black. I sealed off the design with the Out The Door top coat. XOX ♥
Price: $2.49 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.4 fl oz / 11.8 ml The Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Beach Ball is a clear base with matte red, white and blue hexes from the 2014 Passport to Rio collection. Although this polish is in the Rio collection, I (and probably most of you) think of the American flag or the fourth of July when you see this polish. Similar to Carnival, another "glitter" from this collection, the clear base of Beach Ball leaves bubbles and I'm not sure why. I used two coats of Beach Ball in the photos. XOX ♥
Price: $2.49 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.4 oz / 11.8 ml The Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Carnival is a clear base containing matte light green, black, coral, light pink, light blue and dark blue hexes from the 2014 Passport to Rio collection. The base wasn't too thick and did provide a decent shine to the finished nails. However, it did seem to leave bubbles...which I haven't found in any other Sally Hansen polishes. You do have to work with the hexes to get them to evenly cover the nails, but overall it's pretty nice. I used two coats of Carnival on all my nails, my index and ring fingernail have no base color, my middle finger has a black base and my pinky has a white base. XOX ♥
