I have the whole collection of the limited edition Palm Beach Jellies collection from Sally Hansen. I have always swatches polishes on my nails, but since I have six polishes, I figured swatching on a nail wheel would be best. The collection includes Water Melon, Vitamin D-Light, Jell-ous?, Sea Through, Ice Tint and Grape Jelly. Since the polishes are jellies, they are sheer tints that give a gel look to the dried nails. They also blend together nicely, which makes a gradient effect super easy to achieve. Although they typically need to be built up, they all have a nice formula. They aren't thick or goopy and apply very evenly. I suggest using somewhat thick coats to achieve the most gel-like finish. 1 CoatOne coat gives a pretty, soft pastel look when applied over a white polish. Jell-ous? and Water Melon look a bit streaky with only one coat, but the other four do not. With one coat, all three pink shades look very similar, especially Jell-ous? and Water Melon. 2 CoatsThe colors become much more intense with two coats, and don't look nearly as pastel. Jell-ous? and Water Melon still had a bit of a streaky appearance, but it's not bad. 3 CoatsThe colors achieve a nice opacity with three coats. They all give off a nice glossy finish and all have evened out. The three pinks still look quite similar, but Vitamin D-light is warmer than the other two and Jell-ous? is darker than Water Melon.
XOX ♥ Price: $9 * Buy At: Zoya's Website * Size: 0.5 fl oz Zoya Vanessa is a neutral dark red with a creme finish. Since Vanessa is dark, but not quite burgndy, it's a good year-round alternate for a classic red polish. Vanessa had a nice, thin formula and only needed two coats. XOX ♥
Price: $17 * Buy At: Sephora * Size: 15 ml / 0.5 fl oz Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Harem is described as a bright pinky purple with no shimmer or glitter. This is a very unique color that I haven't been able to dupe (which is why I bought this one). Other colors are always too lilac or too pink. The formula of Harem is quite thin, but it still manages to be opaque in two coats. The brush is pretty thin as well, which some people may like, but I prefer a thicker brush. XOX ♥
Price: $9 * Buy At: Zoya Website HERE * Size: 0.5 fl oz / 15 ml Zoya Charisma is a neon fuchsia polish with no shimmer or glitter. Like many neon polishes, Charisma dries to a matte finish. Charisma had a great formula, which is what I have come to expect from Zoya. The formula is thin, but it easily covers the nail. Charisma dries pretty quickly, due to the matte finish. I used 3 easy coats of Charisma in the swatches, I added a glossy top coat to my middle and pinky nail. XOX ♥
Price: $3.99 * Buy At: Rite Aid * Size: 0.35 fl oz / 10 ml The Julie G Nail Color in Birthday Suit is a pastel peachy pink polish with no glitter or shimmer. I've always wanted to try out the Julie G brand, but there are no Rite Aid stores near me, so when I went on a trip to Colorado (where there are Rite Aids) I had to pick up a Julie G polish! The application of Birthday Suit was pretty nice, but the polish did take a while to dry. I adore the color, though, it's pastel but still bright and looks so nice and feminine on the nails. I used three coats in the swatches. XOX ♥
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Swatch Spam | Fuchsia Power, Coral Reef, Mellow Yellow & Mint Sorbet1/4/2014
Price: $2.49 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.4 fl oz Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear is one of my favorite brands of nail polishes because they are cheap, apply smoothly and are opaque with one or two coats. I have previously done a swatch spam post with my blues & purples from the line, which you can see HERE. The next four SHXM polishes in my collection are Mint Sorbet, Mellow Yellow, Coral Reef & Fuchsia Power. I used two coats of each polish and three coats of Mellow Yellow. Mint Sorbet is my favorite mint polish because it is so opaque without being too thick, I could have gotten away with just one coat. Mellow Yellow is a great choice for a classic yellow cream because you can get the intensity without a white base. This one was a bit thinner and streakier than the others, but looks just the same after three coats. Coral Reef was a little less full coverage, but opaque with two coats. Fuchsia Power performs much like Mint Sorbet. XOX ♥
I found these polishes at Sally's Beauty Supply on sale, so I am not sure the current price for these polishes and I thought I would post swatches in case you come across these in a sale bin and are interested! The China Glaze Texture Nail Lacquer in Unrefined is a bright, cool toned pink with a gritty finish. The application was pretty easy, as the formula isn't too bumpy when it is wet. Unrefined dried pretty quickly and the gritty finish is nice and even on the nails. The China Glaze Texture Nail Lacquer in In The Rough is a bright yellow green with a gritty finish. The formula was consistent with Unrefined. I really like this color and I feel that this kind of bright chartreuse is hard to find, so if you like or don't mind the textured finish, then I would hunt down this color! XOX ♥
Price: $9.50 * Buy At: Sephora * Size: 0.5 fl oz / 15 mL The formula of Seeing Pink Elephants just wasn't very good. This was a huge bummer because the color is gorgeous. It was streaky even after 3 coats on some nails and for some reason it scratched off really easily when it dried. On the bright side, this nail polish did dry really fast! If you are interested in the color of this nail polish, you can get it to work with a little more effort. I found that Seeing Pink Elephants lasted better and was less streaky when applied in thick coats versus thin or medium.
XOX ♥ Price: $4.79 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.45 fl oz / 13.3 mL The Sally Hansen Diamond is a red-violet glitter polish in a semi-sheer red-violet base. Wedding Crasher applied the glitter very evenly and I didn't find any "bald" spots on my nails. I also like how when dry, it doesn't have a bumpy or gritty feel, as many glitters do. Wedding Crasher feels very smooth. XOX ♥
Price: $2.49 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.4 fl oz / 11.8 mL Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear has been my favorite nail polish brand for a really long time! When I saw that they had a new line at Target, I got so excited that the people around me probably thought I was a freak. Anyway, Sally Hansen has come out with a new line of 10 colors for Summer 2013 and I picked up 5. The ones I didn't pick up were Lemon Zest (a shimmery mustard yellow), Blueberry Blast (a shimmery dark blue), Razz-berry (a mid tone pink creme), Ice Pop (a silver glitter top coat) & Pink-Grape Fruit (a purple and pink glitter top coat). Peach BeachPeach Beach is a medium peachy coral pink creme. I found that Peach Beach was the most streaky on me out of the 5 I bought. It was also a little more sheer and required 3 coats on some nails, unlike the others. If you are wondering about how it compares to the permanent shade Coral Reef, Coral Reef is darker than Peach Beach and a little more red. Pinch of PunchPinch of Punch is a pink-leaning purple creme. This kind of purple (and pastel purples) are the only kinds I will wear, so I'm glad Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear now has one! Pinch of Punch was pretty opaque and only needed 2 coats. I found that Pinch of Punch was really glossy looking, the most glossy out of the 5 for some reason (I didn't use a top coat). Berry JuicyBerry Juicy is a clean, bright pastel pink creme. This one is my favorite from the collection & I couldn't stop looking at my nails when it was on! Unlike a lot of pale pink polishes, this one was very opaque and bright and only required 2 coats to even the color out. Kiwi BikiniKiwi Bikini is a darker green teal creme. The formula of Kiwi Bikini was the thinnest to me, but it was still pretty opaque with 2 coats. Perfect Pear-ingPerfect Pear-ing is a light green creme that isn't mint and isn't lime. This polish was quite sheer when applied in thin coats, but was really opaque (and looked brighter) when applied with thick coats. The closest color I have to Perfect Pear-ing is Essie's First Timer, which is more blue. Berry Juicy & Perfect Pear-ing were my favorites from the 5 that I picked up, but these 5 are my favorite of the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Summer 2013 line. All of these polishes lasted a few days before chipping without a top coat.
