Look out for BOGO 50% off / free sales! Stores like Ulta, CVS & Walgreens frequently have sales like this.
Join Sephora's Beauty Insider. You get a free birthday gift and earn points to earn rewards. Also, once you spend $350 (used to be $500) you become a VIB and get even more special things, like the biannual 20% off sale!
Join Ulta's Rewards program.
Search for dupes. Just because a product is from a high end brand, doesn't mean it's the best thing, sometimes drugstore products work better.
Buy palettes. This is especially great for beginners, buy a big palette from Coastal Scents or BH Cosmetics and you can have any color you could possibly want.
Check out the "Cheap Finds!" tab. When I find a cheap product that I love, I'll talk about it in that section.
Try and hold off until sales like Black Friday or Christmas sales. While the popular products typically aren't on sale, you may be able to find other things you'll want to buy, now for a discounted price.
Visit www.hautelook.com. This website was created by Nordstroms and comes out with sales on clothing, shoes, accessories, and of course, beauty products.
Know what to splurge on. For example, if you have a pretty good complection, you may not want to splurge on a high end foundation.
Check the clearance section. Even Sephora's have them! Sometimes you can even find something you really wanted, now for a much reduced price.
Ask for high end things for your birthday or Christmas.
Use a product before getting a new one. I know, it's hard, I too have a bunch of mascaras that I'm using at one time. If you can wait though, you won't feel as bad about buying a new product, or splurging.
Don't buy makeup with a credit card. Like all things, when using a credit card, the money doesn't feel real, making it much easier to splurge when you don't need to.
Test before you buy. Even though makeup stores have been getting much better about making returns, nothing is worse than figuring out that the product you just bought doesn't work out very well, and ends up wasted.
If you need to justify it, you probably don't need it ☺. I've learned this from experiences once I start telling myself that this bronze shadow is slightly warmer than my other 3 bronze shadows, I know I probably don't need it.
Download the app "Wrapp". It's an app that you can give your friends FREE gift cards, and in the past $5 to Sephora was one of them.
This doesn't save money, but, if you order makeup from the brand's website, if you spend an amount (typically $50) you get free shipping and normally some samples are thrown in.
In addition to buying from company's websites, don't if you know you won't be spending that much money. It's super easy to go onto a site planning on buying something for $30 and adding $20 of things you don't need just to get free shipping.
Buy drugstore makeup at Target or Walmart. It is normally cheaper than places like CVS, Walgreens & Ulta.
When a product you love is on sale, stock up. Typically products aren't on sale right when you need them.
More to come in the future! I hope this helps save you money!
