Price: $8 * Buy At: Beauty Brands * Size: 0.14 oz / 4 g The Koco by Beauty Brands Lipstick in Apres-ski (L110) is a warm smoked peach with a cream formula. The KOCO lipsticks come in a black rectangular tube with a swatch of the color on the bottom. Oddly enough, the name of the color is not written anywhere on the package, it was only on the plastic safety seal. Apres-ski has a nice formula; it's smooth without being slippery and has very good color payoff. The color does not move or feather on me whatsoever. Apres-ski had a cream finish for an hour or so, but then it ended up looking matte. Once it lost its shine, it also began to feel drying, but this can always be fixed with a bit of gloss or lip balm. Price: $4.49 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.17 fl oz / 5 mL The Nyx Liquid Crystal Liner in Crystal Hip is a liquid liner with a clear base and white glitter with multi color reflect. The Liquid Crystal Liners come in a thin tube and have a brush tip for application. I find that just the right amount comes off on the brush, I don't have to re-dip the brush or wipe off the excess. Crystal Hip gives a pretty look on its own, but I like to use it over an eye shadow to give it more sparkle, or over a dark eyeliner to transform the look. Crystal Hip looks really good over black liner, as you can see in the swatches. Once the liner has dried it doesn't move, but since it's glittery it will flake off if you rub it, although I did not find it to produce fall out throughout the day. XOX ♥
Price: $7 * Buy At: Beauty Brands * Size: 0.064 oz / 1.8 g The KOCO by Beauty Brands Eye Shadow in Starlet (E120) is a medium shimmery purple taupe. The KOCO Eye shadows come in a thin black plastic compact with a clear lid that allows you to see the color inside. The name and finish are printed on the bottom of the compact. The color payoff of Starlet is not as intense as the matte shadow I have from this line (Peachy), but it still is pretty pigmented. I find that it applies best to the lids when applied with your finger versus a shader brush. Starlet has a fairly smooth feel, but isn't buttery, which is why it doesn't look metallic when swatched. I love how Starlet looks on the lids; it is almost a neutral, but it still has a bit of a purple tint. As I said in my review of Peachy, I am impressed with the KOCO shadows and am likely to purchase more in the future! XOX ♥
Purple and Plummy lip colors are huge for the colder months, so today I have ten different drugstore options. Some of them are straight up plums and purples, but a few are a bit more neutral and wearable. All of these lip products have been previously reviewed by me and can be found under the Product Finder tab under Makeup. Price: $7 * Buy At: Beauty Brands * Size: 0.064 oz / 1.8 g The Koco Eye Shadow in Peachy is a warm peachy brown with a matte finish. If you aren't familiar with Koco, it's Beauty Brands' fairly new in house brand. They have , not all of them are amazing, but like Sephora or Ulta, you can test out all of the shadows, so you won't end up bringing home a dud. The KOCO eye shadows come in a small black plastic compact with a clear lid. Even though the compacts are thin and compact, they actually contain more product than MAC and Urban Decay shadows. The formula of Peachy is soft and smooth, it reminds me a lot of the matte shadows from Urban Decay. Peachy has very nice color payoff and doesn't need to be built up to get the full effect. It blends out very easily in the crease and works amazingly as a transition color. Peachy reminds me a lot of the ever so popular Peach Smoothie by Makeup Geek (which I also own), but Peachy is darker, so it shows up more on the eyes. I'm definitely impressed by this shadow and probably will purchase more KOCO shadows in the future. XOX ♥
Price: $3.49 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.14 oz The EOS Vanilla Bean Smooth Stick Lip balm comes in a light ivory tube with a grove on the top of the lid. EOS managed to stay consistent with their classic formula on these new lip balms. The vanilla scent isn't too strong, but it is noticeable. The lip balm feels smooth and moisturizing, but isn't thick. This lip balm is 95% organic and 100% natural, so if you tend to gravitate towards natural products, this would be a great one! As far as the stick version versus the sphere version goes, I probably still prefer the original, but I still really like this one. It smells just like the vanilla Smooth Sphere lip balm that was a part of the limited edition 3-pack for holiday 2013, so if you missed out on that one definitely get this one! XOX ♥
How To | Step by Step TutorialAs always, I began this look by priming my lids with the Elf Eyelid Primer. I also used a thin layer of the Sephora Jumbo Liner in Purple Glitter. I applied the product straight to my lids and lightly patted it in with my finger. This doesn't need to be perfect, since shadows will be on top of it. I used two different shadows for the transition shade in the crease. I started off by applying Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie (a matte light peach) all over the crease with the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush. With a Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush, I applied Makeup Geek Country Girl (a medium neutral cranberry) right in the crease, from inner to outer corner. I used a clean Sigma E40 to blend the colors together. To darken up the crease I used yet another Makeup Geek shadow, Bitten (a dark matte cranberry). I used a small crease brush from Coastal scents and focused this shade mainly on the outer half of my crease. I used a clean Sigma E25 to blend all three crease colors together. I always like to use the same colors on the lower lashline that I used in the crease to really pull the look together. I first applied Bitten with a Sephora flat liner brush, right up against the waterline. Next, I used Country Girl on a Sigma E37 to blend out the edges of Bitten. Lastly I used the same brush and Peach Smoothie to blend the cranberry colors out. To turn the sparkly medium purple into a silvery lilac, I used the L'Oreal Infallible Shadow in Liquid Diamond (a metallic cool grey). I find these shadows apply best without a brush, so I packed the shadow onto my lids with my finger. I also used Inglot #318 (a matte white) under the brows and in the inner corner of my eyes with a Coastal Scents detail brush. I wanted to keep the liner pretty thin for this look since it involves some color. I used the Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel in 17 and a Real Techniques Silicone Liner brush to line my lids. I also used a Coastal Scents Angled Liner Brush and a black shadow to set the liner and make sure the line was clean. I also used the Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk to line my waterline. To complete the look I applied mascara to my top and bottom lashes. I used one coat of Benefit They're Real and one coat of the CK One mascara on both the top and bottom lashes.
XOX ♥ Price: $6.99 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 9.2 mL / 0.31 fl oz The Maybelline the Colossal Volum' Express Cat Eyes Mascara comes in a yellow tube with orange writing and leopard print on the lid. The wand is curved and pretty thin and the bristles are short. I prefer fatter wands, but I know that not everyone does. I found that this mascara did give my lashes some length, but it didn't thicken or separate them at all. It made my lashes look quite spidery, as you can probably tell in the photos. I've tried using this mascara many times, but I never end up liking the results. However, my sister really likes this mascara, so it's really a personal opinion. XOX ♥
