Price: $2.99 * Buy At: Kmart The Wet n Wild Blush Brush is a rounded fluffy brush made with synthetic bristles. The bristles of this brush are amazingly soft, comparable with my favorite IT Cosmetics brushes. It is a bit flimsy, but I still find it easy to apply or blend out product with. The brush is somewhat thinner than many fluffier blush brushes, so it also can work well for a soft contour or bronzer application. My only gripe with this brush, is that the ends of it are pink, making it pretty difficult to see how much product you have on the brush, especially since most of the blush colors I apply are at least a little bit pink. Price: $5 * Buy At: Five Below * Size: 0.314 oz The City Color Be Matte Blush in Blackberry is a cool toned medium pink with a matte finish. The City Color Be Matte Blush comes in a quite large, round compact, with a clear lid, which I love since you can see the color inside. Don't be fooled by the price, this blush has an amazing formula. It is super smooth and pigmented and blends out very easily on the skin. Since it's very pigmented, I like to use a light hand with this color, but because of this, I could see Blackberry working well on skintones that are darker than mine. As far as lasting power goes, I would say that Blackberry lasts for an average amount of time, and could be reapplied in the afternoon to get back some more color. Overall, I really like this product and definitely will be on the lookout for more City Color products. XOX ♥
Price: $6 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 8 mL The Nyx Intense Butter Gloss in Orangesicle is a bright red orange with a cream finish. The Nyx Intense Butter Glosses come with a typical doe foot applicator. They have very opaque color payoff, but they still maintain the shiny finish of a lipgloss. The formula is pretty comfortable on the lips, but not quite as comfortable as the original Butter Glosses. On the lips it has a medium thickness but is not sticky. While I do appreciate the intense pigmentation of this product, if I am wanting a statement lip, I will more likely go with a lipstick or matte liquid lipstick. However, Orangesicle could nicely be layered on top of an orange lipstick to add a bit of a sheen, or to a matte lipstick to add some moisture to the lips. XOX ♥
How To | Step by StepI first evened out my lids using a concealer to prep them for shadow. As a transition shade all over the crease, I applied Sorbet with a Zoeva Luxe Soft Crease Brush. Using a Zoeva Luxe Defined Crease Brush, I applied Goji from the inner to outer corner of the crease. As always, I blended in my crease with the Sigma E40 brush. To deepen up the outer corners of my eyes, I used Cabernet on a Sigma E47. I went back between all the crease colors until I got the kind of intensity that I was looking for. All over the lids, I applied Olivine with a detail shadow brush. To highlight my inner corners I used Bisque and Seashell; I also used a bit of Bisque to highlight under my brows With a Zoeva Luxe Petit Crease Brush, I ran Sorbet all along my lower lashline. With a detail shadow brush, I applied Goji on the outer half and Olivine on the inner half of my lashline. To line my waterline, I used the Tarte SmolderEYES Liner in Purple Garnet, which looks rather brown. I used the Max Factor Mega Volume and the L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara, in addition to applying the Ardell 110 lashes.
XOX ♥ Price: $10 * Buy At: Kmart * Size: 0.21 oz / 6 g The Milani Everyday Eyes Eyeshadow Collection in Earthy Elements is a six shadow palette consisting of warm neutrals. The palette is plastic and cheap feeling, but that is expected with the drugstore price tag. I feel that the packaging is kind of bulky for just six shadows, but again, I am not too bothered. Unfortunately, the first shadow is pretty much a dud, but the rest of the shades are really nice! The two matte shades are really the stars of the palette; they are smooth, pigmented, and blend super easily. While I like the color selection, I don’t think you can create a ton of different eye looks using only this palette, since there isn’t any pale or deep shades. Two of the shadows are lighter, but not to the point that they could be a highlight, at least on my skintone. I feel that the palette could also use a dark matte brown or black, which is a staple shade for me on an everyday basis. All nitpicking aside, I think this palette is really nice, even if you just buy it for the two matte crease shades! I have never been a fan of eyeshadows from the drugstore, but I would definitely recommend this palette to anyone on a budget looking for shadows that are easy to work with. XOX ♥
