This cool, icy makeup look is perfect for the winter months if you are looking for a pop of color, and I even think that it flatters pale skin, like my own. This definitely isn't an everyday look, but it's a fun look for nighttime, parties, or if you are just in that kind of mood. Products Used: Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, Sleek iDivine in Shagri-la PPQ Supreme, Nyx Nude Matte Shadow in Craving, Stila Smudgestick in Silver Dollar, Rimmel Scandaleyes Liner in Black, Wet N Wild Mega Volume Mascara & Maybelline The Rocket Mascara. (Elf Wet Gloss Brow & Lash Mascara and Avon Brow Liner in Blonde on my brows) I used a white shadow base for this look to make the blues really pop. I just messily applied it on my lid and gently blended it out with my finger. Next, I used three different colors on my lids; a shimmery white, light grey and cornflower blue. I used the white in the inner half and the blue in the outer half and used the grey to make the two colors blend together in the center of my lids. I started off the crease color with a transition shade, in this case I used a light grey shadow on a fluffy brush all over my crease. For the actual color of my crease, I used a smaller brush and a dark blue shadow and brought it all the way into the inner corner. I blended it a little bit, but kept it a bit more as a cut crease, but you can blend it out all the way if you wish. Next is the bottom lashline. I took the same shimmery white shadow into the inner corners of my eyes just a little bit, making sure the highlight is not too intense. I also dragged the dark blue shadow (that is in my crease) under my eyes, about one third of the way in. I filled in the rest of my lashline with a shimmery light silver liner. To finish off my look, I lined the outer two thirds of my waterline with a black liner. I also curled my lashes and applied a couple coats of the Wet N Wild mascara on the top lashes, followed by a coat of the Maybelline mascara. I also used one coat of the Wet N Wild mascara on my bottom lashes. XOX ♥

Price: $3.99 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.44 fl oz / 13 ml The Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in the Clear shade is meant for use on the brows and the lashes. I will be reviewing it as a brow gel, as I will not be using this product as a mascara. Just like the original (black) Great Lash mascara, this one has a typical, old-school mascara wand. I think that the wand is a little bit long for setting brows, but it is still easy to work with. The Clear Great Lash mascara has a quite wet formula and does need some time to set. It sets to a fairly soft, touchable feel and it does not make the brows feel hard or crunchy. The Great Lash clear mascara holds the brow hairs in place all day. You can also use this on your lashes, but clear mascara for lashes is not my thing. XOX ♥
Since I own all four installments of the Urban Decay Naked palettes, I figured that I would do a comparison post. First I will go over the packaging differences which you can see above and below. Naked, Naked 2 and Naked 3 are nearly exactly the same in size and Naked Basics is quite a bit smaller. The Naked Palette closes magnetically and has a felt feel to the outside. Naked also has a smaller mirror. Naked 2 comes in a tin package that snaps closed and a large mirror. Naked 3's packaging is quite similar to Naked 2, but has a textured feel. Naked Basics has a rubberized feel similar to Nars' packaging. As you can see below, Naked 3 is dramatically pink and rose-y compared to Naked which tends to be on the bronze/gold side. Swatch Comparisons While all of the light colors in the Naked palettes are different, they do look similar. Strange is the closest to Venus (NB), but Venus is less pink and has shimmer. Strange is also pretty close to both Virgin (N1) and Bootycall (N2) but they are both less pigmented. Dust is sort of similar to Sin (N1), but Dust is much more glittery and is lighter. Burnout is warmer and less shimmery than Sin (N1). Limit is not like any other Naked shadows because it is quite a bit more pinky purple. It's closest to Tease (N2) but they are definitely different colors. Nooner is also quite different, also being much more pinky purple. It's closest to Faint (NB) but they aren't dupes. Buzz is similar to Toasted (N1), but it is much more pink. Trick is quite similar to Chopper (N2) but has a smoother texture and is a bit lighter. Liar is similar to Toasted (N1), but I would say that Liar is more pink. Factory is quite like Hustle (N1) , but Hustle has a cooler tone. Blackheart is not similar to the other blacks from the Naked palettes. It is quite a bit warmer than the other blacks and also has pink/red glitter. Creep (N1) has glitter as well, but is more of a cool, dark grey. XOX ♥
Technically VolleySparkle was born on November 1st 2012 when I started a BlogSpot blog, but I moved on to a Weebly site January of 2013, making this my one year blogiversary! I will admit that much of my first posts were quite random and lacked quality, but VolleySparkle has really grown in quality with the types of posts (mainly reviews) and photos, especially considering my photos at the beginning were taken by my iPhone. My first post on this website was January 12th and it was my earring collection, which I believe was and still is my only jewelry post as I tend to stick with makeup and nail posts. I started the Makeup & Nails section on January 22nd, both with a somewhat ridiculous Makeup & Nail Polish wishlist.
As I said, VolleySparkle is mainly makeup and nail polish reviews, I have expanded to makeup looks and nail art, which there will be much more on the way this year! I will continue with hauls and hopefully will have some reviews on hair products and skin/body products. I started this website because I love makeup, nails and all things beauty for my enjoyment and hopefully for anyone who wanted to see it. I try to create quality reviews and photos that can help people like me who like to do a little research before buying a product. I started off with a few website views everyday from who knows where and one year later have been averaging above two hundred views a day, which may not sound like a lot to most people, but means so much to me that there are people out there that care to read my site whether its daily or every once and a while. So anyone out there reading this, I really wanted to say thank you for checking out my website and reading my posts. I also want to thank my Pinterest followers if any of them are reading this. To wrap up, my first blogging year has gone great and I really appriciate the people who have checked out my website. For the next year of VolleySparkle, you can expect tons more reviews, makeup looks, nail art, hauls and more! Thank you! XOX ♥ (P.S. If you are wondering where the name VolleySparkle came from, it was first my xbox account name and then became my website name. It stands for the two things that define my life the most, Volleyball and all things beauty (sparkle). I've played volleyball half my life and play club volleyball.) Price: $1.99 * Buy At: Walgreens * Size: 0.054 oz / 1.54 g The Jordana Fabuliner in brown is a very dark brown pen liquid liner, that ends up looking almost black. The lid snaps on very securely, which gives me the impression that this liner will not be one that is quick to dry out or leak. I am really impressed with this eyeliner! It lasted on my lids all day without fading or smudging and also did not stain my lids like some other cheap pen liners tend to do. The shape of the liner also allows for multiple different liner thicknesses. With less pressure and only using the tip, you can get a thin and subtle line. Using the side of the tip and a little more pressure you will get a line with medium thickness and if you use the side of the liner and medium pressure you get a thick line. I also like that the applicator is not too firm or stiff, but also is not flimsy. It applies very evenly and does not leave any patches where it is streaky or not evenly opaque. The Fabuliner dries to a natural matte finish. XOX ♥
Price: $6 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.14 oz / 4 g The Nyx Powder Blush in Dusty Rose is a warm pink powder blush with a bit of a reddish undertone. Dusty Rose comes in a black plastic compact with a clear lid that allows you to see the product's color. Dusty Rose is not the most pigmented blush, so it is a great choice for fair to medium skin tones. Dusty Rose has a slightly reddish tint to it which makes it look very natural and "flushed" on the cheeks. Dusty Rose is not chalky and applies and blends very nicely. XOX ♥
Price: $6 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.16oz 4.5g The Nyx Matte Lipstick in Sierra is described as a copper with pink undertones. I find it to be much more of a red, but more subtle and appropriate for everyday wear. The Nyx Matte Lipsticks are my favorite formula of a matte lip product. Even though they have a matte finish, they feel moisturizing and very comfortable on the lips. They have a thin formula, which I prefer over thicker formulas. Sierra does not slip or slide around on my lips, with or without a liner. XOX ♥
Price: $2.99 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.1 oz / 3g The Nyx Loose Eye Pearl Shadow (the package says Ultra Pearl Mania, but the website says Loose Pearl Eye Shadow) in Sky Pink is a shimmery neutral pink loose shadow in a small plastic container. There is no sifter in this product and the package has a small opening, so I find the easiest way to use this is by dipping a small shader brush in the opening and applying directly to the lids. Despite Sky Pink being a shimmery, loose shadow I don't really experience any fallout, especially when applied carefully to the lid. This product has really nice pigmentation but isn't a super intense or flashy color and looks really pretty as a shimmery lid color. The glitter is not too intense and this shadow could definitely be worn during the day. Sky Pink stays on my lid perfectly without a base of any kind. XOX ♥
Price: $5.99 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.14 oz / 4 g The Nyx Powder Blush in Pinky is a bright, cool toned pink with a matte finish. The Nyx Powder Blushes come in black plastic packaging with a clear lid, the hinge on the lid does wear out after a lot of use, but that is to be expected with packaging on inexpensive products. Pinky is one of the most pigmented blushes that I have tried from Nyx and since it is a bright pink, I would suggest using a light hand or a brush that isn't too dense if you have lighter skin. The pigmentation makes Pinky a great option for people with darker skin tones, especially cool toned ones. Pinky also applies and blends out really nicely, which allows you to blend it out if you applied too much of this bright color. XOX ♥
Price: $6 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 3 x 0.035 oz / 1 g The Nyx Love in Rio Shadow Trio in En Fuego contains three gorgeous shades in a black plastic package with a portion of the lid being clear, allowing you to see the colors inside. En Fuego contains a matte dark grey, a cranberry with a sheen and a shimmery pewter. All three shadows in En Fuego have a smooth, soft texture. These shadows have nice pigmentation, but do need to be built up to achieve a color close to how they look in the pan. I mainly bought this trio for the cranberry color, and it is gorgeous. It's a warm cranberry while still being very wearable. The light shimmery pinky pewter color also makes a nice lid shade, but does need to be built up. The gunpowder grey is also a nice color for the crease or outer corner. I believe it's matte, but it may have a little sheen. XOX ♥
