Price: $3.99 * Buy At: Target * Size: 170 ml / 5.7 fl oz The L'Oreal Sleek It Iron Straight Heat Spray is a heat protecting spray with a windex-like spray nozzle. The package claims, "Our high performance, lightweight heat spray offers 3 day sleek hair + 450 degree heat protection for an ideal sleek look." The spray nozzle makes it very easy to get the product all over the hair, making sure all of the hair is protected from a styling iron. The nozzle also easily locks to prevent the heat protectant from spilling if you travel with it. I would say that I get sleek hair when using this product, but my hair is naturally straight so I'm not the best person to test this claim. It's hard to tell if a heat protectant really works, but I found this one to to just as good of a job as any other heat sprays I have tried. Over time I have found that the nozzle on this one gets clogged every once and a while, but it's not a big deal. The nozzle allows the product to cover a decent amount of hair, which makes covering the hair with heat protectant quick and easy. XOX ♥

Price: * Buy At: Sally's Beauty Supply * Count: 12 The Salon Care Metal Double Prong Clips are small silver hair clips. These clips could be used in hairstyles (such as updos), but I use them when I curl my hair. It helps the curls to hold if you roll them back up and hold them with a clip until the hair cools. The clips have a strong hold and don't slide out or move around once you put them in your hair. Since they are small, they don't hold a ton of hair but it shouldn't be an issue unless you are trying to clip a lot of hair or if you have very thick hair. XOX ♥
Price: $6.29 * Buy At: Sally's Beauty Supply * Size: 6 fl oz /178 ml The Mane 'n Tail Hair Strengthener Daily Leave-in Conditioning Treatment is a leave in conditioner spray. The bottle claims it is "an advanced, daily leave-in conditioning treatment that provides essential protection to help achieve longer, stronger, healthier looking hair." It also says that it "nourishes and repairs, provides essential protection to help prevent split ends, protects hair strands from heat and chemical styling, and provides additional moisturizing and conditioning protection. It is to be used by directly spraying onto damp or dry hair and massaging, combing or brushing through the hair before styling. The amount you should use depends on how thick and long your hair is. I have medium-long hair that is somewhat thin and I use about ten sprays. The first thing I noticed when using this product was the smell. It smells like an apple candy, and while I didn't really like it at first, it really grew on me and I really like it now. However, the scent does not linger in the hair at all. I like to spray this on the ends of my hair and I instantly notice that my hair feels less dry and brittle. I have been using this spray constantly for over two months and I feel that the ends of my hair look and seem healthier than they did before. XOX ♥
Price: $3.99 * Buy At: Target * Size: 5.3 oz The L'Oreal Boost It High Lift Creation Spray is designed to add "instant lift and fullness and a modern back combing effect." I've seen this product work for other people, but it does not work for me! I do have fairly straight thin hair, but I was hoping for some kind of miracle. I have tried to use the product in all sorts of ways, but none of them have added any volume. I've tried spraying my hair upside down, straight to the roots, before and after teasing...but all I'm left with is really crunchy hair. Not only does the product not do anything, but it smells bad too. In my opinion this product is more of a really strong hairspray. XOX ♥
Price: $4.99 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 11 oz / 311 g The TRESemme Climate Protection Finishing Spray is an aerosol hair spray designed to fight humidity, UV rays, static and wind. I really am a fan of this hairspray. It does well holding all kinds of hairstyles, whether wearing your hair straight, curly, wavy, or in some kind of an updo. In my opinion, it works better than the Tres Two hairspray for keeping the hair straight, and doesn't make the hair feel crunchy or gross. It can leave a bit of residue on the hair when a lot is used, which is what I do when I curl my hair. But, I don't think that it takes away from the overall look of the curls. This hairspray has claims of protecting from humidity, wind, static and UV rays. While I can't really say if the spray does anything to help protect from UV rays, I do think that it protects your hairstyle even when it's humid or windy outside. (Trust me, I live in a very humid place!) XOX ♥
Price: $3.99 * Buy At: Target * Size: 200 mL / 6.8 fl oz The Guardian Angel 425 Degree Gloss Finish Flat Iron Balm is a non aerosol heat protectant spray in a long, skinny yellow tube that gets smaller in the center. The bottle has a typical pump spray for application. This heat protectant has a nice smell, but isn't too strong. The scent is not fruity or floral. The product is easy to spray and evenly distribute throughout the hair and I find it to spray more product than some other heat protectants that produce more of a mist. It's hard to tell if it is really protecting my hair from heat, but I don't notice an increase in split ends or breakage. I think this heat protectant does its job, has a nice scent, and with the price I will probably repurchase once I finish up this bottle. XOX ♥
1 - TRESemme Tres Two Hair Spray ♥ No matter how your hair looks when you curl it, it won't matter if it doesn't stay that way! I like to use this hair spray because it holds my curls with out making my hair crunchy.
2 - Herbal Essences Curl Boosting Mousse ♥ Mousse helps add hold to your hair way before you style it. I like to put a golf ball sized amount of mousse in my damp hair the night before I am planning on curling my hair. 3 - Suave Dry Shampoo ♥ Dry shampoo may seem odd to go with curled hair product picks, but it really helps me curl my hair. Dry shampoo not only removes oil and adds volume to your hair, but it also adds texture. I have fine hair, which basically has no texture in it and it needs some help to be able to hold a curl. 4 - Herbal Essences Tousling Spray Gel ♥ Last product! Even though this product is marketed to give you tousled, messy waves, it also adds texture to my hair to help it curl. I spray this on damp hair the night before, as well as on my dry hair in the morning before curling. 5 - Conair You Curl Curling Wand ♥ You can't have curls without an iron! I find that my hair curls best with a clampless iron and I love the Conair You Curl. It's more accessible and budget friendly than a lot of popular curling wands, and it works great for my hair. I also like that it has heat settings (I like to use 330 degrees). 6 - Hot Tools Springy Spongy Rods ♥ I don't use these every time I curl my hair, but it's nice to use them to ensure curly hair the night before or add some quick waves in the morning while doing your makeup or something. These come in packs of 10 and you just wrap your hair around the rod and fold the ends to keep your hair in place. Over night, they create pretty tight curls, but when in for a few hours, it can be the start of some pretty curls. XOX ♥ 1 - Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum - This product has been a straight hair must for me for over 2 years now. It protects your hair from heat and from being frizzy as well as helps your hair straighten. This is a great serum for straight & curly hair! Plus, it smells absolutely amazing!
2 - L'Oreal Total Repair 5 Multi-Restorative Dry Oil - This lightweight oil helps me control flyaways that like to accumulate on top of my head. Just lightly spray the area of your hair that has flyaways and gently comb them down! 3 - Garnier Fructis Brilliantine Shine Spray - Shiny, glossy hair always looks healthy and beautiful, and looks great with straight hair. This spray from Garnier adds a natural amount of shine plus a nice smell to the hair. 4 - Sexy Hair Blow Dry Volumizing Gel - If you have fine hair like me, you need some extra help to have volume in your hair. I like this gel because it isn't thick or sticky & adds a nice amount of texture. 5 - U-smooth Smoothing Iron - Unless you are blessed with perfectly straight hair, you'll need a flat iron! This is the iron that my salon uses and it's really great. I've had mine for 2 years and it's still working perfectly. I also like that you can customize the heat to the temperature that you want (I like 330 degrees!) 6 - Teasing Comb/Brush - Teasing is the best way to add instant volume to the hair. I like to tease 2 or 3 layers at the crown of my head by gently back combing with a teasing comb or brush. Hairspray it and smoothen out the top layer & you're good to go! XOX ♥ Since I don't review hair products, I thought I would do a short series of "my picks" this one is picks for healthy hair (shampoo & conditioner not included) and next will be for smooth, straight hair & for curly hair (curling the hair, not naturally curly hair, my hair is pin straight). 1 - Aussie Hair Insurance Split End Protector - This lotion-like product has actually reduced the number of split ends that I have! I just apply a little bit to the ends of my hair after washing it. Plus, the lotion-like formula helps makes the ends of my hair a little less dry.
2 - TRESemme Heat Protectant Spray - If your hair is like mine, wearing your hair natural isn't really a good idea. It is really important to use a heat protectant spray when ever you use a hot tool on your hair, especially if you use heat daily, like I do. 3 - Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti Breakage Serum - I like to hand comb a dime size amount of this serum to damp hair to help prevent breakage. Not only does it help with breakage, but it smells like coconut! 4 - Tangle Teezer - If your hair is frequently tangled, then you know how much hair you can break or rip out when trying to comb out your hair. The Tangle Teezer is a brush with no handle that works absolute magic for detangling hair. You can find this brush online and at Urban Outfitters. A leave-in conditioner and a detangler spray can also help keep your hair healthy, but I haven't tried one that I'm in love with yet! XOX ♥ I have straight hair that doesn't like to curl or hold curl. My hair can barely hold a 5/8" curl throughout the day, much less even curl with a 1" or bigger barrel. But, after a long time of experimenting with products, I've finally found a way to prep my hair before curling to make the curls stay! After my shower (the night before curling) I put my hair up in a towel to soak up the excess water for a little bit while getting ready for bed. Once my hair isn't dripping with water, I take off the towel and brush out my hair. Then, I apply a golf ball sized amount of Herbal Essences Curl Boosting Mousse (you can use another type of mousse if you don't have hard to curl hair) After applying the mousse throughout the lengths of my hair I begin to dry it with a hair dryer. I do this until my hair is damp. Once my hair is damp, I spray a bunch of Herbal Essences Tousling Spray Gel into my hair. This is a lightweight spray, so using a lot won't weigh down your hair or make it crunchy. I spray some more of this stuff after completely drying my hair too. Before going to sleep I braid my hair in 2 braids. Not too tight, but also not loose. This provides me with waves when I wake up to act as a base for my hair to curl. Once I take my braids out I curl as usual (See how here: http://volleysparkle.weebly.com/4/post/2013/04/how-i-curl-my-hair.html) and spray with Garnier Fructis Aerosol Hair Spray and Tresemee Tres Two Non-Aerosol Hair Spray.
