Products I Use
After I take a shower (whether the night before or morning of) I use my curl boosting mousse--to help my hair curl--before drying it. I sometimes use my Spongy Rollers to add some curl, see the post linked under the Spongy Rod Rollers to see how. To protect my hair from the heat of the curling iron, I spray my heat protectant all over my hair.
Now that my hair is prepped, I plug in my curling iron. The Conair You Curl has 4 heat settings (300, 330, 360 and 400 degrees) I like mine to be on 360 degrees. You won't need as high of a temperature if your hair curls easily. Then, I will sometimes clip up a layer of my hair to curl my hair in 2 parts. This part is optional. To curl my hair, I grab a medium section of hair. You can choose to use more hair to create bigger curls, however, my hair doesn't hold bigger curls. I begin my curl a little higher than half way down the piece of hair and twist the hair around the barrel to the tip. I hold the piece for 5 to 8 seconds and let the piece go. I follow these steps for every chunk of hair. Once all the hair is curled I lightly mist it with my aerosol hair spray, and then do a more heavy-duty job with my non-aerosol hair spray.
