Price: $18 * Buy At: Ulta Real Techniques has taken over as my favorite makeup brush brand and I have some more brushes from Real Techniques to share today! This is the Real Techniques Core Collection, which comes with 4 brushes as well as a 2-in-1 case and stand. Since these are face brushes, they have the orange handle. Unlike the brushes you can buy by themselves, these have a straight base. The single brushes have a flared out base. I like these better because they take up less room in my brush cup. The Core Collection contains 4 face brushes. The brushes in this set are the budding brush, contour brush, pointed foundation brush & detailer brush. They all have the same quality, soft bristles that do not shed. Below is the brushes set up in the stand that they come in. I think that it is unique and handy, but I just put my brushes in a brush cup. Buffing BrushThe Buffing Brush is the largest in the set and is comparable in size to the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush that I love. While it is called a buffing brush, I find that it can be used for multiple purposes. For me, it isn't quite dense enough to buff in concealer or foundation (I like the Expert Face brush for this since it is much more dense) But, this brush can be used for blush and contouring! The density of this brush allows the perfect amount of blush and does a great job buffing and blending in the blush. The Buffing brush can apply a medium amount of bronzer for contouring as well. This brush is very soft and does not shed when washing or using. Contour BrushNow that I've talked about being able to use the Buffing brush for contouring, let's move onto the actual Contour Brush. This brush is smaller and longer than the Buffing Brush and is tapered. I have a smaller head and cheekbones, so this brush is a great size for me to contour with. I feel that if you have a large head and/or cheeks, than this brush may be too small for you. I find the size of this brush perfect to apply contour to under the cheekbones, to the temples and to the sides of the nose. This brush isn't super dense, which allows you to blend out the contour and avoid a harsh line of bronzer. It also helps to not apply too much bronzer. Again, this brush is very soft and does not shed while washing or using it. Pointed Foundation BrushThe Pointed Foundation Brush has the classic, rounded foundation brush shape. However, this foundation brush is much skinnier than most foundation brushes this style. This brush is dense, but not quite as dense as your average foundation brush. Because of the size of this brush, I find two main ways to use it. The first one is obviously for foundation application. I like to dip this brush in my foundation (if it doesn't have a pump) and dot it all over my face, following up with a brush to blend and buff it in. But, how I really like to use it is for blending in concealer. It effortlessly blends in liquid or cream concealer without taking away any of the coverage. This brush has a very silky feel and does not shed. Detailer BrushLastly, is the smallest brush in the set, the Detailer Brush. Like most Real Techniques brushes, the Detailer Brush can be used in multiple ways. The Detailer Brush can be used to blend out concealer on small blemishes, just like the Pointed Foundation Brush. It's also a great brush for concealing around your lips to get the perfect lip shape, if that is something that you do. I like to conceal around my lips when using red or darker lipsticks. Even though this brush is in a face collection, the size of it makes it able to be used as an eye brush as well. This is a fairly dense brush, so you could use it for a concentrated color on the lid, as well as an inner eye color or highlight. The Detailer Brush is very silky and does not shed. XOX
